Vote OnlineMALE
Mike Orendorff
Mike is involved with the club by supporting local races and community events. He is an age group national champion in Olympic distance triathlon. Mike went to Burlington, VT where he placed first. Through all his intense training he continuously battles minor and chronic injuries but is still able to compete at a high level.
Shawn Loppnow
Besides running in almost every event in Pueblo and having completed the Pikes Peak Ascent this year, he also runs in the Prediction Series. If he is not actually running in an event then he is volunteering at it. Sometimes he does both. After running he will then turn around and help out. Shawn has placed or won in his age group in just about every race he runs in. This year was his first Ascent. He is an inspiration because of the support he gives to the club. The Loppnows also host a Prediction Run at their home with wonderful food and hospitality.
Darryl Clark
Darryl runs and helps out at most every event. The Clarks host a Prediction
Run at their home and this year Darryl is taking on the job of Spring
Runoff Race Director. This is an enormous responsibility and he has made
some positive changes such as chip timing and adding the 10 mile run to
the Colorado USATF series. Darryl is always encouraging other runners
and offering assistance where needed.
FEMALE
Laurice Lopez-Cepero
Besides competing in many of the SCR events and events in Colorado such as the Pikes Peak Ascent, COG, Colorado Marathon and triathlons, she is the assistant coach for the South High School Cross Country Team. She is an outstanding coach and motivates and encourages the runners to do their best. Laurice takes the time to work with the runners who are just beginning and maybe not natural runners in order to build their endurance and confidence. She was instrumental in getting the Boys and Girls Cross Country Team to State Championships. In her own running she usually places in her age group. With injuries that plagued her this year she overcame them to compete.
Debbie Gurule
Debbie helps with the high school cross country team as well as volunteering for the Girls and Boys Club run. In addition, this year she struggled with a stress fracture and was still able to come back and compete in her first triathlon as well as a marathon. Debbie is always encouraging other runners she comes in contact with.
Paulette Arns
Paulette participates and/or volunteers at many (almost all of) SCR races
and predicts. She performs many functions in the club, and is the club
treasurer. Paulette is the example of a true club supporter. Paulette
has won many races in the walker category. She also competes in many running
races such as this year's American Discovery Marathon. She is a vetran
of literally hundereds of events including ultra-marathons. She is always
participating or volunteering at just about every race or predict, often
as the race liaison and time keeper. She is a successful runner and vital
member of this club.
